badlydrawnartist
ARTIST BIO:
Experimental artist, with no formal background in art, badlydrawnartist enjoys using different mediums in expressing how he sees the world.
With no tutorial in art, he struggles with the concept of light and shadow (the foremost principle of art), hence his works are either an exaggeration or under-representation of the most rudimentary aspect of drawing, resulting in somewhat bizarre outcomes.
His main focus are abstract, portrait and science art. or sometimes a coming together of these themes. He enjoys poking fun of current affairs, science deniers, and basic pop culture. Yet his works often ask the audiences to think and question about people as human beings in relation to other subjects and objects in life. A reality check on canvas, so to speak. He does this through an ink brush of a simple line, an oil painting of how plant grows to charcoal sketching of alien lifeforms and the universe.
He truly believes that the greatest discovery is in the connection of things, how we interact, but also the inconsequential of our beings.

Description: The new James Webb telescope has inspired our curiosity in what could be out there. Astronomers estimate there are around 100 billion stars in the milky way galaxy alone. The question isn't if there's life out there, but what kind of life is out there? The artist wonders, with his limited knowledge of life beyond the solar system, if aliens are like us, drinking milk from a cardboard carton and placing it on a table.
It's a big Galaxy out there and one would hope that life isn’t always as violent as DUNE or Star Wars in a galaxy far far away.

The Birth of Fake News.
Description: Today we are bombarded with a lot of
(mis) information. The truth may not always be known, which is exactly what the instigators hope for. They don't want the truth to really matter or hope it won't, since we now live in the world where the court is one of public opinion. Once the damage is done, reputation lost, the lawsuits and court rulings hardly matter. While all real abuses should be punished, how do we guarantee that everyone will get a fair chance?

A Time to Kill.
Description: It's impossible to know for definite what made Panya Kamrab, a decommissioned policeman, walk into the childcare centre and kill 23 children. The physical act of stabbing children while they were asleep, was not one that the killer could have distanced himself from. The proximity to the victim and the
deliberate act was not random. It was not like spraying bullets at a crowd to indiscriminately kill. This took mental force as victims were slain one by one.
A horrifically sad day. It could have been, like what the deputy prime minister said, because he was high on drugs. Or a rebellion against Thai society. One thing was obvious, he wanted to inflict pain. Of course, we can’t ban all the guns and knives in the world. Even if we could, there are other ways to kill. This has, sadly, become the way of the world.

Jamesy and the Planet Earth
Description: We were taught in science class that Earth is the 3rd planet of the solar system, with the sun as the star. The moon orbits the Earth, which in turn circles the sun. The Bible would like to have us believe otherwise. Not to mention the various Hollywood
movies, hypothesizing how we came to float in the galaxy and the universe.
The artist ponders his own version of events. What if really the Earth is just a pet project of a really powerful alien race? They keep an eye out for us, like we keep an eye out for our plant on the kitchen table.
And while we may not always give our plants the attention they deserve, and they whither, the same goes for Earth. Maybe right now the alien Jamesy is distracted somewhere else and this planet and all its inhabitants are struggling in some way. With many of its species being driven to extinction, and its environment being destroyed. The artist wonders if the Earth needs a hard reset from its owner in order for
all the stakeholders to survive and flourish. But if Jamesy returns, how will he change this toy of a planet?
